Comparison of Broadcasting Methods

OBS

OBS allows you to send the highest quality stream to MFC. This is the best choice for models who do not do a lot of private/group shows.

The latency for desktop viewers will be around 3-6 seconds, and for mobile viewers around 6 seconds.

We recommend a hard-wired Ethernet connection and stable high speed Internet, though this requirement is not as strict as with Sidekick & WebRTC. If you have unstable internet or use WiFi, OBS and Flash will give the best results.

Club Shows are supported - See Instructions.

Important Notes:

  • Privates/Groups are not supported yet but will be soon.

WebRTC

The WebRTC broadcasting method allows you to stream with extremely low latency & high quality directly from the Model Web Broadcaster in your browser without any additional software.

The latency for desktop and mobile viewers is around 1 second.

All show types are supported on both Desktop and Mobile.

Important Notes:

  • You must have a hard-wired Ethernet connection (not WiFi) and very stable high speed Internet.

Sidekick

Sidekick is a plug-in developed by MFC to work with OBS. It is available for both Windows and Mac.

The main advantage of using Sidekick is that your stream will be play in native WebRTC on both desktop and mobile, which means it will have lower latency than normal OBS.

This means that if a member sends you a tip, they will see your reaction instantly, even on their phones.

Important Notes:

  • Club Shows and Privates/Groups are not supported on Sidekick yet. We will support Club Shows soon and then Privates/Groups after that.
  • Audio quality is slightly worse than normal OBS, but will be improved soon.
  • You must have a hard-wired Ethernet connection (not WiFi) and very stable high speed Internet.
  • You are always able to go back to using normal OBS after using Sidekick by simply making the switch in your Model Web Broadcaster Settings.

High Resolution

The High Resolution streaming method uses Flash to broadcast from your browser.

After OBS, this the best way to stream if you are on WiFi or if your Internet connection is not perfect.

Your stream will be high quality and the latency will be about 3-6 seconds for Desktop users, and 6 seconds for mobile viewers.

Important Notes:

  • This broadcasting method will be available until December 2020 when Flash is no longer available. We recommend switching to OBS or WebRTC/Sidekick (if excellent internet and not using WiFi). By then, the other broadcasting methods including Sidekick, OBS, and WebRTC will be better in every way, and will result in lower latency and an improved user experience especially on mobile devices.
