To edit a page

Editing an existing page is really easy. Just go to any page you want to edit, and click the "edit" tab at the top.

If you want a page you can edit and play with without worrying about breaking a "real" page, open the Sandbox page in a new window, and play all you like in there.

Simple Wiki Editing Tags

Creating links

To create a link to other pages here, put two pairs of brackets around it, like this: [[Sandbox]]. That automatically creates a link, like this: Sandbox

To create a link to something outside the wiki, just type the URL, it will automatically become a link, like this: http://www.camwhores.com

To create a link to something outside the wiki, but make some words clickable, you can do this: [http://www.camwhores.com The best site ever] which produces this: The best site ever

Changing the style of text

To emphasize something, put two pairs of apostrophes around it, like this: ''pay attention!''. That makes something in italics. If you put three apostrophes around something, you make it even more emphasized. If that's not enough, five apostrophes(''''') is really noticeable!

If you know HTML, you can use it. <b>make this bold</b>, will also make this bold. You can use most common HTML tags, like <b>, <i>, <u>, <pre>, etc.

Paragraphs

Pressing the Enter key
at the end of lines
doesn't do anything.

But, if you leave a blank line between paragraphs

You get start a new paragraph.

Sections and subsections

Notice at the top of the page that handy table of contents? That's generated for you automatically if you use the Wiki's section headers.

Put two equals signs around your main headings, like this:==Simple Wiki Editing Tags==. Each level of sub-section you want to create under that section, use additional equals signs, like this: === Sections and subsections ===.

Lists

Lists are easy too, just put a * at the beginning of the line for each item in the list, like:

''Sexiest Men on Camwhores''
*Pug
*Popgun
*Argent

Which will create a list like this:

Sexiest Men on Camwhores

  • Pug
  • Popgun
  • Argent

You can also add sub-items in lists, like this:

''Sexiest Men on Camwhores''
*Pug
**Loves Sheep
*Popgun
**Controlled by Cammy
*Argent
**Rocks the mullet
***Argent's mullet is over 7 feet long, and has defeated Chuck Norris.

To produce something like this:

Sexiest Men on Camwhores

  • Pug
    • Loves Sheep
  • Popgun
    • Controlled by Cammy
  • Argent
    • Has a mullet
      • Argent's mullet is over 7 feet long, and has defeated Chuck Norris.

Images

You can include images in your Wiki articles really easily. Write the text, and wherever you're going to want to put an image, put in a link for it: [[Image:someimage.jpg]]

After you've saved your page, click on each red placeholder for the images on the finished page, and upload the image that you want to go there. You don't have to deal with FTP or hosting it from somewhere else, just upload it from your browser.

"Signing" your work

If you put four "tilde" characters in a row(like this: ~~~~), as soon as you save the page, it will replace them with your name and date/time you made the change. If you're asking a question on a page, or just want to make it clear that you wrote something, feel free to sign it. Like this. Kevin 16:40, 11 March 2006 (CST)

Editing other people's pages

The purpose of a wiki is for everyone to be able to edit each other's pages. However, try to be thoughtful when editing other people's work. If you think someone is wrong, but not sure, don't delete their work, add something to the bottom with your opinion. If a discussion is going on inside a page, make sure you sign your changes so people know who they're talking to.

Starting a new page

To start a completely new page, first go to the page that you want to link to your new page. For example, if you're writing a how-to article, go to the page that lists all the how-to articles. Edit that page, and insert a link to whatever you want to call your new page, and hit save.

On that page, you'll see the addition you made, but in red(indicating that the page doesn't exist yet). Click that link to begin editing your new page.
